Little Lincoln Writing Philosophy:
Writing is a large part of the Little Lincoln kindergarten curriculum and is broken up into writing and handwriting:
Students using the Little Lincoln curriculum are taught how to form the letters and numbers correctly on the handwriting lines throughout the academic year. This instruction is closely tied to the reading curriculum so that the students understand what the letters look like, what sound they make, and then learn the handwriting strokes associated with the letter.
Writing is the process of putting one’s thoughts onto paper, and Little Lincoln students are encouraged to write at the
beginning of the year. Handwriting during this process will not be perfect, and students are instructed to try their best
and write the words as they hear them. The purpose of the Little Lincoln writing curriculum is to develop a foundation for
creative and analytical thinking as they develop their skills in spelling and handwriting.
